One of Jeffrey’s earliest food memories revolves around a one hundred year-old orange tree in his grandmother’s backyard. This tree in Central Florida, at the crossroads of Southern culture and tropical heat, produces oranges that are beautiful in their mosaic of dull orange skin and tan spots with wonderfully delicious juice.
Jeffrey took this memory with him to Chef Norman Van Aken’s flagship restaurant NORMAN’S, in Coral Gables, Florida, where he became the Chef de Cuisine. In addition to working with restaurant groups in California and the Caribbean, Jeffrey has also worked in the non-profit arena centered around health and wellness. He rejoined Chef Van Aken at In the Kitchen with Norman Van Aken and Southbound Hospitality restaurant group.
Jeffrey has been featured in national publications including Food and Wine, Gourmet and The Washington Post. He has a history of giving back to the community through Camillus House and Common Threads, a non-profit organization that combats childhood obesity by educating children in underserved schools and communities about cooking and nutrition.
